Why choose Psychology4Learning?
We operate according to the British Psychological Society code of ethics and standards, ensuring that schools and parents can trust the advice / support offered by our psychologists.
Please note that our pricing is based on the focus and complexity of the assessment required. Therefore a price is only quoted once you’ve spoken to the psychologist to explain the concerns in more detail, and so that they can advice on the most appropriate scope of work.

Williams reading has really improved since we have been reading with him and taking away the phonics. He’s beginning to really enjoy reading now which his incredible.
Understanding a child’s strengths and difficulties
The majority of our work is with a parent or carer who would like to better understand their child’s strengths and difficulties at school, in one or more of the following areas: learning, relationships, behaviour. This is where a child is struggling in school, whether academically or emotionally, and the parent / carer would like a greater understanding of those difficulties as well as strategies on how to support the child and maximise their strengths.
If you are considering employing a private educational psychologist, we would first recommend that you discuss your concerns with the class teacher and the school SENCO. Speak to the SENCO regarding your plans to engage a private psychologist. The SENCO will be able to advise on whether they feel this would helpful and suggest areas of focus. When engaging with P4L our educational psychologist will also involve the SENCO in the assessment.
Final reports that are commissioned by a parent are sent just to the parent. But we recommend you then share that report with the school so that you can discuss the contents.

Education and Heath Care Plans
A private educational psychology report can be used to submit as evidence as part of an EHCP application. This is the most common use of a private educational psychology report. A private EP report can not guarantee that an EHCP will be issued.
When writing the final EHCP, the Local Authority will employ its own educational psychologist (or directly commission a private educational psychologist working on behalf of the Local Authority) to write the psychological advice that is published in the EHCP. They may utilise prior private educational psychological reports to inform their statutory advice.
Parents may challenge a final EHCP, which can result in the parents and Local Authority going to Tribunal. As part of this process, the parents may wish to commission a private educational psychological report to use as evidence as part of the Tribunal process, and also ask the private educational psychologist to attend court and take the stand to explain their report.
Once an EHCP has been issued, the Local Authority will undertake a regular annual review. Parents or schools may commission a private educational psychological report to use at the annual review in order to consider any change in the childs needs.
Different educational psychologists will be happy to work on different stages of the EHCP process, therefore we may not be able to help parents on all stages of the EHCP process.

Private Schools
Parents of children who attend private school may also commission a private educational psychologist. First speak to your school SENCO to discuss your concerns, and discuss the appropriateness of involving a private educational psychologist. The SENCO may also recommend psychologists that they have worked with previously. If you are then happy to proceed, please email Info@psychology4learning.com for further information.
