How to Commission Support
Support for schools
Our Services
01
Annual contract

Educational psychology time to be delivered over the academic school year. Orders for Educational Psychology time are taken during the Summer term, ready for work to begin in September. Any number of units can be purchased and will be delivered over the school year in agreement with the SENCO or head teacher. Delivery of annual contracts takes priority over mid year ad hoc work. As part of the contract the psychologist will hold a phone planning meeting with the school to discuss their requirements.
02
Ad hoc work requests

Mid year requests for individual pieces of work. Schools are welcome to contact Psychology4Learning to request individual pieces of work throughout the academic year. However, we will need to check educational psychologist availability before accepting the order as work on annual contracts takes priority. Ad hoc requests may include working with a particular child/young person, delivering a training session, providing staff consultation etc.
03
Bespoke Training

We are able to provide bespoke training delivered by an educational psychologist at your school or via Microsoft Teams. Training can be for school staff or parents. Training sessions can be 2 to 3 hours, or all day, at any time of day including twilight sessions. Sessions are tailored to the needs of the school, so can be small interactive workshops, or larger lecture type events.
04
Professional Supervision

As part of normal practice Educational Psychologists undertake regular professional supervision. Good supervision has an important role in assuring quality standards of service delivery and supporting service development. It should address both the well-being and professional development of the supervisee but also attend to outcomes for children, young people and their families.
Supervision is a psychological process that enables a focus on personal and professional development and that offers a confidential and reflective space for the supervisee to consider their work and their responses to it. Aimed at staff who often find themselves is stressful situations our psychologists can offer supervision for School headteachers, senior leaders, SENCOs and teaching staff. An invaluable tool which is often lacking in schools.
05
Interventions

An Intervention for children and young people who may be experiencing difficulties in school means a specific programme of work tailored to that need. For example, there are a wide range of literacy interventions, for children who are struggling with reading, and numeracy interventions for children having difficulties with maths.
Our psychologists are able to advise on the range of different interventions, discuss the research underpinning them, and support the school with implementation. Some interventions are appropriate for individual pupils, but others are whole school approaches.
Individual pupil support

Psychology4Learning provides flexible individual pupil support for schools where there are concerns about learning, development, SEND, inclusion, emotional wellbeing, behaviour or attendance. Our Educational Psychologists work collaboratively with school staff, parents and, where appropriate, other professionals to build a full picture of a pupil’s strengths, needs and experiences across school and home.
Support may involve consultation with staff and parents, classroom observation, individual assessment, review of existing information and clear recommendations for provision. This can include advice for pupils with identified or emerging SEND, complex learning profiles, social communication needs, emotional or behavioural needs, or difficulties with school attendance. Our aim is to help schools understand what may be getting in the way of learning and participation, and to identify practical next steps that can be used in the classroom and across the wider school environment.
-
Consultation, observation and individual psychological assessment to understand a pupil’s strengths, needs and barriers to learning.
-
Evidence-based recommendations for teaching, intervention, reasonable adjustments, SEND provision and home-school support.
-
Advice for complex cases, EHC needs assessment work, annual reviews, behaviour, wellbeing, attendance and multi-agency planning.
Where reports are provided, they are written clearly and focus on practical, evidence-based advice that schools can use to support decision-making, strengthen inclusive practice and improve outcomes for pupils. We can also support reviews of progress and provision over time, helping schools adjust support as pupils’ needs change.
School Improvement Director, Campfire Education Trust
“I just wanted to say a huge thank you for your support with out children and families since I have been at GGA working on SEND. You really are an inspirational person to work with and the ‘going above and beyond’ is a credit to your clear passion for children”

Consultation and Problem Solving
Many schools value Educational Psychology consultation as a flexible way to think through concerns, explore different perspectives and identify practical ways forward. Consultation can be helpful when schools are supporting an individual pupil, a group of pupils, a staff team or a wider area of SEND and inclusion practice. It provides protected time to reflect on what is happening, consider the factors that may be influencing learning, wellbeing or behaviour, and agree realistic strategies that can be put into practice within the school context.
Our Educational Psychologists can support SENDCo decision-making, safeguarding and vulnerability discussions, transition planning, inclusion reviews and solution-focused problem solving. The aim is to help schools build confidence, strengthen their own capacity and ensure that pupils receive timely, thoughtful and evidence-based support. By working collaboratively with school staff and families where appropriate, consultation can lead to clearer understanding, shared priorities and practical next steps.
Strategic and Whole-School Support

In addition to individual pupil work, Psychology4Learning supports schools and trusts to develop sustainable, whole-school approaches to inclusion, SEND and wellbeing. Our Educational Psychologists can work alongside senior leaders, SENDCos and pastoral teams to review current systems, identify priorities and strengthen provision across the setting. This may include SEND strategy development, inclusion reviews, policy development, leadership consultation and support for Multi-Academy Trusts seeking a consistent and evidence-informed approach across schools.
We can also provide staff supervision, coaching and whole-school support to help schools build confidence, embed inclusive practice and create environments where children and young people can flourish. By combining psychological expertise with a practical understanding of school life, we help leaders and staff develop realistic solutions that support both pupils and the adults working with them. Our aim is to help schools create inclusive, responsive and emotionally supportive environments where all learners have the best possible chance to succeed.

Specialist Teacher Services
Psychology4Learning’s Specialist Teachers provide expert assessment and advice for pupils who are experiencing difficulties with learning, literacy, numeracy or access to the curriculum. They can carry out diagnostic dyslexia assessments, maths assessments (these are not dyscalculia diagnostic assessments) and assessments for Examination Access Arrangements. Their work can be particularly helpful where pupils are not making expected progress, where there are concerns about specific learning difficulties, or where schools need clearer evidence to inform support, intervention or reasonable adjustments.
Following assessment, our Specialist Teachers provide clear, practical recommendations that can be used by school staff, parents and young people to support learning and improve outcomes.
